Bethesda Gardens – The Best in St. Louis Senior Living in the Heart of Kirkwood

Just a short walk away from many popular restaurants, boutiques and entertainment venues, Bethesda Gardens is an ideal senior living retirement community.

With 127 apartment homes, including studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options, Bethesda Gardens maintains its pastoral feel with its landscaping, resident-care gardens and patios. There’s even a Farmers Market close by!

Included among the superb amenities are an inviting social lounge, a recreation center and a large sundeck. When residents aren’t engaged in a competitive game of Wii bowling, they’re enjoying the extensive collection of books and periodicals in the library or socializing in our wine-themed bistro for Happy Hour.

Bethesda Gardens offers a maintenance-free lifestyle — so “say goodbye” to snow shovels, rakes and lawn mowers. But if gardening is your hobby, you can join your fellow residents who care for the flowerbeds on our cozy patio out back. It’s all part of what makes Bethesda Gardens a premier choice in St. Louis senior living options.

Transportation is provided for doctor visits, weekly grocery shopping and banking. There are outings and events planned by our staff, like trips to the Missouri Botanical Gardens and St. Louis Art Museum. Whatever your interest, you’re sure to find others who share it at Bethesda Gardens.

Healthy meals are served restaurant-style in our dining room. Combined with a variety of exercise and wellness classes, our residents and their families know the importance we place on wellness in mind and body.

Testimonials

  • When we decided to move we found that Kirkwood was a very attractive location, and would be central to the things we like to do. The community itself features plenty of cozy corners with warm fireplaces and comfortable furniture conducive to easy conversation or secluded enjoyment of a novel. Security is another important feature to us. The Gardens has 24-hour staffing and is equipped with video surveillance. We are right around the corner from multiple emergency services that help ensure prompt professional attention if needed. One of the major deciding factors for us was food!

Although the kitchen in our apartment is well-equipped to prepare our own food, we also have the option of lunch or dinner in the beautiful dining room. Food service is offered through a vast number of menu options that are very accommodating. The service staff is energetic and very sensitive to the needs and wishes of older adults. Also, wine and beer is offered in the dining room! Guests are always welcome to join residents in the dining room. Similar to the food service staff, the administration staff is service-oriented and always striving to ensure the satisfaction of the residents. The Gardens allows us to be as active within the community as we want to be.

There are multiple activities that all residents are more than welcome to join in such as Bridge, Pinochle, Bingo, weekend movies, trips to points of interest in St. Louis, out-to-lunch series to various restaurants in the area, and a Nintendo Wii gaming system with a number of competitive games! Also, there is a resident council that provides a monthly update of activities and holds quarterly meetings where residents can raise questions or receive updates on planned activities and any changes. More desirable features of the Garden’s lifestyle are a shuttle service, weekly housekeeping, maintenance which is handled in a timely manner, and the two Guest Suites available at a nominal cost. Overall, the Gardens is more than just a place for seniors to live – it is our home and lifestyle. We are very pleased to be a part of the community.

  • When I had to choose a place to live upon moving out of my home, my husband was living at Bethesda Dilworth and I wanted to look at independent living within the Bethesda family. I had looked at several places, and I decided on Bethesda Gardens because of the atmosphere and the location. Kirkwood is a beautiful city with plenty of shopping and dining, as well as vibrant scenery in the spring and fall.

The apartment is roomy and well-maintained, and the transportation has been so helpful since I had to get rid of my car. The office staff is pleasant and is always willing to help in any way – with a smile! The dining room always serves high-quality food, and the wait staff provides excellent customer service. The amenities provided by the Gardens are above and beyond my expectations!

  • Bethesda Gardens was clearly our choice when we were ready to move from our house of 48 years to a new home for a new stage of life. The staff was so helpful and hospitable… painting the walls in our color choices… assisting with our flexible move in schedule… providing a storage space for items from our basement. We enjoy a great dining room with wonderful student servers delivering menu-ordered, delicious food to our table… and arranging a reserved table when family and friends come to eat with us (And my wife is glad not to cook anymore!).

Bethesda Gardens offers more activities than we can share – game days and weekend movies in the Living Room, a book club for readers, transportation to the Symphony, in-house entertainment with musicians and speakers, holiday festivals, monthly out-to-lunch ventures, tours of St. Louis… and much more. Our patio is a great place for mid-morning coffee or after dinner sunset watching. We can chat with other folks when we want to, and enjoy peace and quiet if we so choose. And best of all, our children and grandchildren are glad we are living here!
