Mary June King Scholarship Recipients Announced

Bethesda Health | August 16, 2019

Learning does not stop once one graduates. Indeed, many Bethesda employees seek post-secondary education to further their career, learn new skills, and improve their standard of living.

The Mary June King Scholarship, established in memory of June King a former Bethesda Dilworth resident, helps Bethesda employees pursue college level study or professional training in a field that benefits Bethesda and it’s employees. Proceeds from the Mary June Scholarship help pay for educational expenses that staff may have, such as books or laptop.

This year’s recipients are Marlena Fountain, an Admissions Counselor at Barnes-Jewish Extended Care who is pursuing her Masters in Social Work and Julie Strassman, a Volunteer Coordinator & Bereavement Assistant for Bethesda Hospice, who is pursuing her Doctorate of Ministry.

Mary Brown, daughter of former resident, Mary King, states, “I’m proud that this scholarship established in memory of my mom helps staff pursue their dreams, and put them on a road to a better future.”

Support the Mary June King Scholarship and help a deserving employee further their career.
