Hospice Care is about living as fully as possible with more quality of life in every single day.
When you or someone you love has an illness or condition that is unlikely to be cured, personalized care comes to you. It’s a very special, comforting, unique service, with more benefits for both loved one and caregiver than one can even imagine.
The experienced professionals at Bethesda Hospice Care concentrate on maintaining (or improving) the quality of life of the older adult nearing end-of-life with dignity and respect. Our interdisciplinary team focuses on managing your unique care needs, so you can focus on what’s important – living and loving together.

Where Hospice Services Are Provided
Whether you live in the privacy and comfort of your own home, an assisted living community or a skilled nursing community, Bethesda Hospice Care is available. Medication, equipment, supplies, and our staff will come to you – after all, our goal is to relieve your pain, treat your symptoms and provide support wherever you may be.
Our Hospice Suites
Our hospice suites are currently located at three of our skilled nursing communities: Bethesda Dilworth in Kirkwood, Bethesda Meadow in West County (Ellisville), and Bethesda Southgate in South County. Our spacious and comfortable Hospice Suites ensure privacy and support socialization and family togetherness during those precious final days.
There is plenty of room in these oversized privacy suites for a family to gather and visit. Each suite includes:
- Full-sized bed
- Sleeper sofa
- Private bathroom
- Kitchenette with Keurig coffee maker
- Large flat screen TV with DVD/CD player
Thank you to Emerson and Amen, Gantner & Capriano, for underwriting the costs of these suites.
“We Honor Veterans” Program
Bethesda Hospice Care specializes in identifying the unique needs of Veterans and their families by focusing on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement.
In an effort led by Bethesda’s Bereavement Coordinator, we joined the “We Honor Veterans” (WHV) awareness campaign conducted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and Department of Veteran Affairs in 2012, and have been able to progressively increase our ability to serve Veteran patients as end-of-life approaches.
By 2015, Bethesda Hospice Care became one of the few hospice programs in the St. Louis area to achieve Level Four WHV Partner status – which is the highest level a program can obtain! And in our Hospice Handbooks given to all families and patients, we explain our Veteran Escort Ceremony:
- As part of our mission to honor all of our Veterans and provide the utmost respect, Bethesda Hospice Care offers the Veteran Escort Ceremony.
- Upon death, our veteran residents are draped with an American flag and honored with a dignified procession as they exit the building and stopping at the front doors.
- A Ceremonial Flag Folding bids our veteran resident a final farewell.
Hospice Volunteer Program
In addition to professional services, Bethesda Hospice Care provides the option to have volunteers make visits to your location, whether at home or in one of our Bethesda communities. Specially trained hospice volunteers offer companionship and a caring presence, plus individualized services such as life review, comforting music, and active listening. For more information about the Bethesda Hospice volunteer program or to learn about volunteering, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Julie Strassman at email@example.com or at 314-373-7041.
